Help & Advice

Its appearance is a highly convincing timber decking board, with realistic wood grain, tone and texture. This look is achieved through a process of hand-moulding genuine timber boards, which are then hand-tinted, making each piece of Millboard unique.

Millboard composite decking is made from a revolutionary Polyurethane resin, reinforced with mineral fibres plus a unique Lastane® coating. So what is Polyurethane then? It’s a type of elastomer, which is a polymer about half way between a plastic and a rubber. It maintains the rigidity & longevity of plastic, with the suppleness of rubber. This means Millboard feels much more natural under foot, while still offering incredible durability.

Millboard is extremely versatile and can be used in practically every outdoor space. Create decks, balconies, roof gardens, boardwalks, bridges, pontoons, seating, steps, screening, planters and more.

To recreate the aesthetic of natural colour variation, Millboard intentionally adds secondary toning colours. There may be variance within the same board or from board to board in colour tone. This means that samples cut from boards may vary from the general colour of the boarding. Whilst every care is taken to ensure consistency some colour variation from batch to batch may occur. To avoid this, we recommend that you order all you need in one delivery. If you do have different batches it is best to mix the batches to blend the colours.

Millboard has a very high resistance to fading, this is because it contains no wood fibres which typically fade and leach tannins. Millboard has been UV Stability tested to BS EN ISO 4892-2: 2006 with a result of 2% LRV (shift over 5000hrs) (Exceptional).
As with all things constantly exposed to ultra violet light and all weathers, especially in Australia’s extreme conditions, colours will tone slightly in time. On delivery if you find the colour unacceptable or believe them to be defective in any way, do not install the boards.

There will always be a slight variance in the board’s dimensions due to the fact that we mould from natural oak, and due to the pressure of the moulding process. Despite this, we calibrate the boards to maintain as consistent a profile as possible. The manufacturing tolerances are: Width: ± 3mm. Length: ± 5mm. Thickness: ± 2mm. The dimensions of the Weathered Oak style may vary more between moulds due to the fact that they are moulded from timeworn oak with minimal changes to the dimensions. When working with the boards, packers may be required to create a flush finish between two boards.

Dimensional variation is also possible with our Our Envello® cladding boards and therefore the same manufacturing tolerances are applicable (Width: ± 3mm. Length: ± 5mm. Thickness: ± 2mm).

When using our Shadow Line product, in order to achieve straight and consistent 6mm gapping between boards, it may be necessary to use our Millboard Multi-Spacers during the installation process.

Millboards are manufactured with non-porous material, meaning that it doesn’t absorb moisture. This makes it highly stain resistant – Do not use any kind of solvent, chemicals, abrasive cleaners, sanding, sealing wax or oil, or even any household cleaners! A simple brush down & rinse with some soapy water is all that’s needed to clean Millboards. There is no need for pressure wash as there are no pours for dirt to become ingrained in! If that wasn’t low maintenance enough, unlike traditional timber or even common Wood/Plastic composites, Millboard decking also doesn’t contain any timber, flour or husk fibres (which all have sugars in them), so Millboard will not host algae or mould growth.

How will salt water effect Millboard products? Millboard is perfect for use in marine environments or by the beach. Salt water will not corrode Millboard products.
